Traditional

This is one of the most common types of dental bridges. It’s used when there are natural teeth surrounding the missing tooth. A dental bridge is composed of two parts, the false teeth and the abutment teeth. In a traditional dental bridge, one or more false teeth are supported by two abutment teeth. The two supporting teeth are fixed with dental crowns to match the appearance of a natural tooth.

Cantilever

Similar to a traditional dental bridge, this type is also attached to an abutment tooth that is fixed with a dental crown. The cantilever dental bridge is often used when someone has a missing tooth towards the front of their mouth that's surrounded by only one natural tooth.   

Maryland

This type is also known as a resin-bonded dental bridge. It’s composed of a metal or porcelain band that binds the false tooth to the back of two natural teeth. It’s best suited for people with missing teeth towards the front of their mouth. Unlike traditional dental bridges, this type is not as durable.
